ITEM #1001:

This commemorative collector's plate honors Oliver
and Cyrus Bates, early settlers of the Town
of Henderson, settling in Henderson, New York circa 1806, and shoes a
line drawing from
Everts History of Jefferson County of the stone house that Oliver and
Cyrus built around 1820.
At the time the photo was taken, the house and farm was owned by Truman
O.Whitney and his
wife, Martha Wood Whitney, and consisted of about 400 acres which
included the house as well
as many farm buildings.
The ceramic ivory color plate is 10 inches in
diameter with a two-toned black/grayscale
print color, and a 7 inch imprint area.
This limited edition plate greatly impresses us,
especially because we live in the Bates house.
This plate is the first in a series of plates that we will produce to
honor our town's settlers.
We believe that this commemorative plate is a wonderful keepsake for any
family, or as a
special gift for those who appreciate history and the men and women who
made it.
